Visit Montbéliard Christmas Market, one of the Best Christmas Markets in France with Strasbourg. Located in Franche-Comté (Eastern France), the town of Montbéliard – well known for its hospitality- turns into a pure enchantment few weeks before Christmas.

During the time of Advent, Montbéliard revives the tradition of Württemberg and organizes a Christmas market like no other with 140 lovely stalls full of authentic and high quality items. Taking a stroll down the illuminated streets, the visitors may taste the delicious gastronomic products from Montbéliard and France, marvel at the variety of art and crafts, dance to the music and the sound of choral songs… and for the 2022 edition, our guest of honour will be the Périgord.

The event is more than a traditional Christmas market and Montbéliard is paying attention to every detail to make sure the Christmas Lights offer all their wonders to the 500,000 visitors.

Set in the town centre, the Christmas market is a real jewel. It benefits from the architectural and patrimonial quality of Montbéliard, Town and Land of Art and History. The market is settled around the Saint Martin’s temple, the oldest church of France dedicated to the Reformation (1601).

140 craftsmen/exhibitors coming from Europe are proud to share their savoir-faire. Foie gras, Saucisse de Montbéliard, cheese, mulled wine, chocolates and biscuits… Silk scarves, ceramics, wooden toys, paints… tourists will taste the best of French gastronomy and find the perfect gifts for Christmas.

The twinkling lights make the fame of Montbéliard. Magic and unique, they gave their name to the event. At nightfall, the city centre offers a truly enchanting display of stars... Thousands of lights – arranged in arches and pyramids- are very carefully chosen to dress the places and bring colours to the walls in each street.

Visitors will be able to celebrate Lucia with 150 children, dressed in white and crowned with candles, singing songs to celebrate the Saint patron of lights.

Sweet smells of cinnamon, honey and gingerbread… the enchantment of Christmas make the visitors feel like kids again… they enjoy spending time with family and friends under the peculiar atmosphere full of magic settled in this particular town.

Kids are happy to have fun skating on the ice rink, riding on merry-go-round and create all kind of things in the Elfin’s Workshop… In Montbéliard, Aunt Airie, the good fairy, wanders through the streets with her little donkey, telling people about her story. She gives chocolate to the little ones just before the arrival of Santa Claus...
