Visit Rumeli Hisari / Rumelian Castle
To understand Istanbul we must look at the various conquerors and occupiers who have been attracted to this outstanding city throughout the centuries. In 1452, by order of Mehmed II and the labour of thousands of workers and masons, this fortress was built in less than five months to prepare for the conquest of Constantinople. Whether you love old stones or not, the Rumelian Castle will seduce you with its magnificent views over the Bosphorus.
How to get there : enjoy a stopover from your cruise on the Bosphorus, this is the fastest and most comfortable access to the fortress. Take the boat at Beşiktaş (see cruise over the Bosphorus).
Hours : Daily, from 9:30 to 4:30 p.m (except Wednesdays)
