Starting from there we sought to know the history of Savona, probably the city at the origin of the word "soap" as Bologna is at the origin of  "Bolognese" and Parma of  "Parmesan" but no, “soap” is “sapone” in Italian, so let’s forget about it and talk about Savona, one of the best hidden gems of Liguria and Italy.

 

It looks a bit like  "Cinque Terre" and is not located so far from this postcard destination often invaded by travellers (1h40 by car).

 

Savona is quieter, more peaceful than Cinque Terre, less touristy and more authentic too. The city has managed to preserve its old historic center and its Baroque architecture.
