Georgia

Throughout this health crisis, Georgia has been viewed as a safe destination. As soon as cases arose, the Georgian government decided to close its borders to protect its population and travelers. It was a difficult decision but it seems to have been yielding results, since Georgia has up to 6 times fewer deaths linked to Covid-19 per million inhabitants than the most affected countries.

Magnificent Haussmannian buildings mingle with buildings dating from the Middle Ages; one can also see neo-classical, Soviet style or extremely modern buildings. Tbilisi is respectful of its past and turned towards the future, its youth and tomorrow’s challenges. Be sure to climb to the top of Tbilisi and admire the Kartlis Deda statue, the city’s protector.  This site offers an exceptional panorama of the Georgian capital, the Peace Bridge, the Metekhi Church, the Sulfur baths, the amazing Clock Tower – one of the major architectural attractions of Tbilisi and the Mtatsminda Amusement Park for young and old; there are hundreds of unique experiences to live in Tbilisi.

Cyprus

Very early in the pandemic Cyprus was considered one of the safest destinations in Europe. This has been confirmed over time as the island has up to 25 times fewer deaths per million inhabitants than the most affected countries in Europe

For lovers of the Mediterranean, the island of Cyprus is an absolute must. Aphrodite’s legendary birthplace is famed for its spectacular beaches, breathtaking sceneries and the warmth of its people. It offers the visitor a large selection of unique activities that can fulfill almost every wish.

Colourful orange groves surround stunning ancient ruins, steep cliffs embrace idyllic coves with turquoise waters and shady pine-covered mountains are brought to life with the sounds of the church bells. But apart from offering a serene environment for the visitor who needs to escape the fast rhythms of the busy world capitals, Cyprus is, at the same time, a cosmopolitan place. Its towns are filled with glamorous restaurants, trendy boutiques, contemporary art galleries and artistic cafes which alternate with the narrow windy old streets of times gone by.

Braga

Portugal

Braga embraces the very best of Portugal. As third largest destination in the country and also one of the oldest cities in the world, Braga has for some years been a leading destination for travelers looking for authenticity, culture, architecture, gastronomy and nature. It is also a destination that attracts more and more start-ups and companies for its quality of life; in fact, Braga was elected as the city in Portugal where the inhabitants are happiest.

Rich in events, heritage, life experience, Braga has positioned itself for several years as a destination that travelers place at the top of their travel wish list (2nd Best European Destination in 2019), a city to invest in and to live in, a destination with a soul. Braga embraces the legendary Portuguese welcome of visitors and displays a curiosity towards people and their culture, in total respect for their differences.

The future looks promising for Braga. It is a young modern city steeped in history, proud of its roots and traditions. Braga has much to offer: from the friendliness and welcome of its people to tranquil living, great shops, great monuments and amazing landscapes. It is a city that touches positively those who visit it.

Although we do not know yet what constitutes effective measures against this virus, we can see that it did less damage in Portugal during the first wave; measures to encourage caution were taken in Braga but also social measures to support the most vulnerable. Very quickly, it was decided to test the people in charge of reception to avoid the spread of the virus and to create telephone support lines for isolated elderly people; measures were also put in place to offer housing for people affected by Covid-19 in order to isolate them and prevent the spread of the virus. People on furlough or unemployed were able to benefit from a 50% reduction in public transport tickets and, to avoid social disparitie, school meals continued to be provided when schools were closed.

We don't know how this virus works, but we know that it can create isolation and deepening social inequalities. With a mix of prevention and support measures, Braga has distinguished itself and has been honored by the OECD for its rapid and innovative responses to the pandemic. Discover this destination and treat yourself to an enriching journey in a destination that better than any other, mixes tradition and modernity, safety & leisure.

Oradea

Romania

Oradea is among the safest and most beautiful destinations in Europe. Thanks to their quick measures, the authorities of Oradea managed to reduce the Covid -19 impact. One of their first good ideas was to select a hospital to treat Covid-19; in fact, Romania has more hospital beds per capita than Norway, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Thanks to an early implementation of tests, no member of the medical staff of Oradea has been contaminated by Covid-19 so far, another proof of good management of the health crisis.

Oradea is one of the most beautiful destinations in Romania too and a perfect destination for slow and stress- less tourism. You will be amazed by the Art Nouveau buildings in Oradea: the town is one of the great capitals of Art Nouveau in Europe and the Oradea fortress is one of the most important late medieval architectural monuments in Transylvania; Oradea is also one of the best medieval destinations in Europe; museums, craft workshops, medieval demonstrations, events and restaurants will walk you down memory lane.

What you most like is strolling around, have a nice drink on a terrace, go to a restaurant or a trendy bar? Oradea is the place to be: it is among the most beautiful cities in Romania with a very good quality of life. It mixes past and future and cares about its youth and tomorrow’s challenges. Whether you come to Oradea for its medieval or Art Nouveau architectures, its many quality events (including classical music festivals but also general public events such as its Christmas fair), Oradea is perfect for curious and demanding travellers but also for non-demanding ones who just want to stroll around the city. Oradea is also appreciated by families with the "Nymphaea Aqua Park" open in summer and winter. Children will have fun in the many slides while parents will enjoy saunas, Turkish baths with thermal water, steam cabins, aqua therapy and massage rooms.

Aljezur - Algarve

Portugal

The Aljezur air is world famous and seen by some as the purest air in continental Europe. It is probably thanks to the ocean which brings in continuous fresh air, but also the lack of large polluting industries or industrial agriculture or perhaps the many eucalyptus and pine trees. Like the Arcachon basin in France, some people with breathing difficulties settle in this region for the quality of its air. Good air quality is not enough to fight Covid-19, but it is definitely a positive argument to choose an open-air vacation facing the ocean after months of confinement.

With one of the lowest population densities per km2 in Europe, the Algarve, like neighbouring Alentejo, has been less affected by Covid-19 than major European cities. Fewer people per km2, clean air, beautiful walks along the Vincentine Coast, unspoilt nature, this is what you will enjoy in this less touristic part of the Algarve.

Be sure to visit the local market to buy mostly organic local products; the local honey comes from bees who love to forage on the wild lavender that can be found all over Aljezur. Don't miss tasting an Arte Bianca pizza, even better at sunset, surfing in Arrifana and ending the day with a delicious massage at Carolina Agapito Day Spa; the sound of waves in this spa salon is not from a playlist but from the ocean close by. Aljezur is a perfect destination for families, nature lovers, adventurers and hikers.

With one of the lowest death rates from Covid-19, the Algarve is simply one of the safest regions in Europe. Since the start of the epidemic, the Algarve has seen 20 times fewer deaths per million inhabitants than countries like Belgium.

Cluj-Napoca is one of the most beautiful destinations in Europe and one of the most attractive cities in Romania; it is also one of the safest destinations to visit in Europe thanks to measures taken to reduce the impact of COVID-19.

Romania reacted very quickly (purchase of medical equipment) and recorded fewer cases of Coronavirus than the most affected countries. In addition to national measures, Cluj-Napoca has implemented very specific measures: disinfection of public transport every 4 hours (we have not seen better in Europe), protection of elderly people, specific opening hours (from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.) in shops and markets and specific reception centres for patients with Covid-19.

In the historical region of Transylvania, in a picturesque area, the City of Cluj-Napoca quietly awaits to be discovered. Once you descend into the city and feel its vibe, you’ll be forever charmed. Latvia

With 20 times fewer Covid-19 deaths per million inhabitants than in the most affected countries, Latvia is seen as a safe destination in Europe.

The city has always lived in close cooperation with nature, which is still an important part of its residents’ daily lives, with the many public parks, forests, squares, lakes and city canal. Riga has hills and islands as well as beaches.

Nesting birds and even beavers call the city home. In addition, considering the relatively compactness of the city, many of its sites are within walking distance: special urban pulse points and green relaxation zones, a dynamic city atmosphere and the romance of rural idylls.

Rubjerg Knude

Denmark

More than ever you want to get away from it all, see places that are unique in the world, be surrounded by nature. Do you dream of wide-open spaces, fresh wind carrying pure air caressing your face, or walking with your feet in the sand and cooling down in the sea?

Located on the Danish coast, Rubjerg Knude lighthouse is an example of resilience, tenacity in the face of complicated situations. Against all odds, this lighthouse has tried to do its job which is to inform ships that they are approaching the coast. Erosion and wind made its work difficult and it was regularly buried in sand. It's not really a battle against nature, but an acceptance that you have to compose with the elements and adapt.

At the beginning of the 20th century, men had already tried to put bushes and plants at the foot of the lighthouse to prevent the sand from burying it, but this was never enough. Later the lighthouse was cleared but the sand still came back, burying the lighthouse until it covered the light. Last year the lighthouse was moved, 70 meters inland, to protect it from erosion. Life often requires a lot of adaptation, alone we sometimes allow ourselves to be buried but with the help of those around us we can still be a beacon and spread the light. The fact that the lighthouse has not been in operation since 1968 but is still protected by the local population also shows us that one can be inactive and still have a great place in the hearts of others.
