You can cycle around Barra in one day. A break at the airport is almost obligatory: first, because you will find one of the only cafes on the island, second, because you can see planes landing on… the beach! There are actually three tracks drawn on the sand, used according to the wind. One or two planes land there every day, at low tide: flight schedules vary depending on the tides. The airport is only open from 10:30 to 15:30 and only for one hour on Sundays. The only destination is Glasgow. The planes are very small: they are "Twin Otters", which can accommodate a maximum of 19 passengers. To travel to Glasgow, it costs on average 80 pounds.  What an adventure!
