At the top of the most beautiful resorts
At the top of the most beautiful resorts of the French Alps, Le Grand-Bornand occupies a very special place.
A veritable skier’s paradise, the concept of "total ski village" has its most striking illustration here. Its cabins, over 400 of them dating from the seventeenth century, rub shoulders with leisure facilities worthy of the major altitude destinations.
The freestyle culture is nourished by an active thriving agro-pastoral tradition and farms that are transmitted from father to son, now interspersed with more cozy addresses.
Chief among these "arty" features, is perhaps the scenery that it composes, at the base of the Aravis mountain range and two steps from Lake Annecy, Le Grand-Bornand has been able to raise the culture of paradox to the rank of art.
An art of living the mountain. Differently, fully. Those who like to contemplate find in its preserved valleys the rare luxury of a restorative retreat, while those who love excitement benefit from dynamic events regularly cited as a reference with the organisation this winter of a new French round of the World Cup Biathlon, from 12th to 17th December, and of the 11th edition of Glisse en Coeur. Glisse en Coeur is the No. 1 charitable event of the French mountain region collected by thousands of skiers, celebrities and anonymous donors invested over the editions presented to associations working for children, will be run on 23rd, 24th and 25th of March for the benefit of the Thelma for Anna association.
With 86km Alpine ski slopes including 16 green, 13 blue, 16 red and 4 black pistes, Le Grand-Bornand has everything it needs to treat anyone who likes chilled-out skiing or adrenalin winter sports. One of the hotspots is the famous 3km long “Dénivel’Maxx” with 1100m vertical descent that runs non-stop from the top of Le Lachat to Grand-Bornand Village. A skier’s dream that switches between gliding along with a view and twisting between trees and old chalets past the final and spectacular red Envers turn… unless you’d prefer to get those thighs burning with three black slopes in a row (Sonnerie, Pylônes and Lachat)!

BMW IBU WORLD CUP BIATHLON / FRANCE
After the success of the first round of the World Cup Biathlon organised by France in December 2013, Annecy-Le Grand-Bornand again welcomes the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon from December 12th to December 17th, 2017, positioning itself as THE
French round of the circuit. A breathtaking spectacle, 250 athletes from 35 nations compete in front of 40,000 spectators expected within the Sylvie Becaert International Stadium, at the center of Le Grand-Bornand resort… and to encourage the talents of the French team, Marie Dorin-Habert and Martin Fourcade leading the way (double Olympic champion in 2014, five times winner of the general ranking of the World Cup and ten times World Champion between 2011 and 2016). And millions of viewers around the world, enjoying the delightful sights of the mountains around Lake Annecy.
Following the successful launch of the exclusive ski "Coucher de Soleil” service last year, Le Grand-Bornand is bringing sunset skiing back for winter sports lovers and anyone who wants an extra hour to experience the joys of skiing every Saturday from late January to late March and during the winter holidays. It’s a rare opportunity to make the most of the spectacular sunset at an altitude of 2100m to give your last ride downhill a dash of theatre…
Three kilometers long, with 1100 meters vertical drop (3.5 times the height of the Eiffel Tower!): these are the incredible stats for the legendary "Dénivel'Maxx," otherwise known as the descent from Mont Lachat's 2100m high summit to the village of Le Grand-Bornand. This unbelievable snowgliding experience mixes skiing and panoramic views down Mont Lachat's ungroomed (but patrolled) west face, including serene glades before the fi nal drop into the resort on the fantastic "Les Envers" run…
Snowparkgb (Snowpark Le Grand-Bornand) regularly appears among the best snowparks in the French Alps and brings you over 5ha of freestyle in the midst of the iconic Pointe Percée. Big Air Bag®, boardercross, kickers and rails with difficulty ranging from XS to XXL make it somewhere that has something fun for everyone. The “Vidéoparkgb” video system on the Big Air Bag® enables freestylers to film their best run, watch it on the screen in the park and share it with their friends on social networks.
Glisse en coeur
Le Grand-Bornand is famous for its action-packed entertainment schedule that ranks it among the biggest French resorts and puts a smile on children’s faces all year round. As well as the festival of the same name that’s become the ultimate European kids show (August 26th-31st 2018) with over 90,000 festivalgoers flocking right up to the mountain pastures for events, the resort approved by “Famille Plus Montagne” also plays host to community skiing with Glisse en Coeur. Every March the top French ski charity event brings together hundreds of skiers, be they well-known or unknown, for 24 hours of non-stop skiing and music to raise funds for children. Over 1,600,000 EUR have been raised in the space of 10 years. A record to beat? 310,000 Euros for the “Thelma for Anna” charity which will play out at the 11th event on March 23rd, 24th and 25th.
