Enjoy Dublin's Nightlife in Temple Bar District

Dublin

Located on Dublin's South Bank, Temple bar is both the name of Dublin's iconic red cafe and the district in which it is located. There are a thousand possible explanations for the origin of this name. Temple Bar District probably owes its name to the district of the same name which existed long before it in London.

Temple Bar is now the place to visit in Dublin for pub and restaurant lovers, but also for those interested in culture. The Irish Film Institute and the Irish Photography Center have been established in the Temple Bar district for years.

Want an Instagram photo? Stop in front of the red “Temple Bar” pub, adorned with large sprays of flowers, geraniums or pansies. Another symbolic spot in Temple Bar District is The Oliver St John Gogarty Pub with dozens of flags from many countries adorning the facade.

How to get there: Book your flights to Dublin and your transfer. Go to Dublin's Left Bank and follow the revelers.

Visit the Glasnevin Cemetery

Dublin

There is nothing creepy or morbid about visiting a cemetery, there is something beautiful, even poetic in cemeteries… The Glasnevin cemetery is the equivalent of the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris, a place where one comes to meditate, see the tombs of illustrious personalities or simply admire the beauty of some graves.

One of the symbols of this cemetery is its imposing tower visible for miles around. This is the O'Connell Tower. It is now possible again to climb to the top of this tower and have a 360 degree view of the Glasnevin cemetery. The staircase to the tower was destroyed by a bomb in 1971 and was just rebuilt a few years ago.

The cemetery is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm Entry is free if you purchase your Dublin Pass.

How to get there: Book your flights to Dublin and your Dublin-Pass.

Visit the Kylemore Abbey

Connemara - County Galway - Northern Ireland

If you like roadtrips and are resourceful you can visit the Kilemore Abbey on your own. From Galway you can easily reach the Kilemore Abbey, you just have to drive 1h30 and not miss the right exit located on the N59. In the 19th century the main road passed in front of this magnificent building but the owner, quite powerful, diverted the main road to get some peace and quiet.

The site is now occupied by nuns who pray all day long to bring some light back to this site which has known rather dark hours. Just give me 5 minutes to talk about this place, will you? At the end of the 19th century, young, beautiful and rich lovers, on their honeymoon in Connemara, fell in love with this place and had this unusual building built there.

During a romantic trip to Egypt, the wife died a sudden death and was repatriated to Kilemore. A Cathedral in her honour was built by her wealthy husband at the Kylemore site. The bad luck continued since a few years later the owner of the premises lost his daughter who drowned in Lake Kilemore. Devastated by sadness he left the castle which remained abandoned until 1920. To learn about the end of the story book your flights at the best price as well as your accommodation and your visit to the Kilemore Abbey.

How to get there: Book your flights to Galway and drive 1.5 hours to Kilemore Abbey (N59) or let yourself be driven and guided by booking your tour. This is available from Galway or Dublin.

Where to stay: Book your room at "Abbeyglen Castle Hotel" set in the heart of Connemara.
