Crispiano is a small town of  very ancient origins located in southern Italy. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times as witnessed by the numerous  artifacts found, dating  back to the Greek  age, which are now housed in the National Archeological Museum in Taranto.

 

Located in the heart of Apulia Region and not far from the Itria Valley Crispiano is also known as “ The enchanted territory of the hundred farms or masserie”.  Kilometre after kilometre, the beautiful mediterranean hills  and plains covered by majestic centuries olive trees are dotted with masserie, built between the XV and XIX centuries. Their architectural style can vary from small rural houses to large imposing farms with closed courts, defensive  walls, frescoed churches, hypogeum oil-mills, medieval towers and endless dry walls. Each masseria is a jewellery box full of  hidden treasures.
