The Vučedol Culture Museum dedicated to a pre-historic cultural appearance of the Neolithic period 3000 – 2500 B. Vučedol can be characterised as the origin of European civilisation positioned on the second largest European river or as a European Troy, due to the continental significance of the site and its findings.

Vukovar Municipal Museum - Palace Eltz

After a lengthy reconstruction the Castle shines again in its full splendor. The museum is thematically divided into several units. Within a tour the visitors can get acquainted with the archeological past of the Vukovar region, the historical development of the town, the ethnographic heritage and traditional culture, and they can watch a multimedia presentation of the Homeland War and its chronology or gain new insights on the topic Vukovar Today – Life in a Multiethnic Community.

The Vučedol Culture Museum

The Vučedol Culture Museum is a first-rate project. Its newly opened exhibition presents the cultural phenomenon of one civilization through its everyday life, but also through its spiritual, intellectual and technological achievements, which were revolutionary at that time. Here you can see the first Indo-European calendar, the Orion. You will also find out that the people of the Vučedol culture were the first in the world to produce bronze and that they produced the first saw in Europe.

The baroque centre of Vukovar
